The Nexus Forum for Research and Dialogue (NeFRaD) is a United States-based institution dedicated to catalyzing societal transformation through public policy reforms, facilitated by research, dialogue, education, and capacity building initiatives. Our primary objective is to promote stability, economic growth, and democratization within Ethiopia, while fostering harmonious interrelations among nations in the Horn of Africa and beyond. We are presently in search of a motivated and seasoned individual to join our team as an Operations Coordinator on a voluntary basis. This role presents an exceptional opportunity to collaborate

Job Summary:

NeFRaD is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Research Program Coordinator. This voluntary position plays a crucial role in coordinating research initiatives, managing research cohorts, facilitating partnerships with like-minded organizations, and ensuring the ethical and legal compliance of research projects. The
Research Program Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director and collaborate closely with other units within NeFRaD.

Responsible For
1. Research Coordination:
  • - Coordinate research initiatives and oversee research cohorts.
  • - Identify and access resources and collaboration opportunities.
  • - Ensure research projects adhere to ethical and legal protocols.
2. Partnership Management::
  • - Partner with like-minded research organizations to leverage expertise and resources.
  • - Facilitate resources and legal protocols for collaborative research projects.
3. Publication and Dissemination:
  • - Coordinate the editing, publication, and dissemination of research outputs.
  • - Organize public conversations on research agenda and outputs, including conferences, seminars, workshops, and policy reviews.
4. Team Leadership and Recruitment:
  • - Take a leading role in recruiting researcher staff, including research fellows.
  • - Coordinate with other units to align research projects with strategic intervention themes and advocacy agendas.
5. Administrative Support:
  • - Coordinate with the finance and administration unit to facilitate the recruitment, retention, administration, and compensation of research staff, associates, and partners.
6. Public Engagement and Outreach:
  • - Ensure the research unit's operations and outputs are represented in NeFRaD's public engagement and outreach efforts.
  • - Collaborate with other NeFRaD units to integrate research findings into educational, advocacy/dialogue, and capacity-building activities.

Educational Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in management, business administration, human resources, finance, or a related field.
  2. Prior experience of at least 2 years in administrative or operational roles, preferably in a nonprofit or NGO setting.
  3. Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and coordinate tasks effectively.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with HRIS, accounting software, or other relevant tools.
  6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Conviction in the efficacy of strategic, evidence-based, citizens-backed, and collaborative public policy reform processes.
  8. Willingness to commit at least 12 hours per week.
  9. Recruitment based on a rolling basis with the start date being as soon as possible.
