The Nexus Forum for Research and Dialogue (NeFRaD) is a United States-based institution dedicated to catalyzing societal transformation through public policy reforms, facilitated by research, dialogue, education, and capacity building initiatives. Our primary objective is to promote stability, economic growth, and democratization within Ethiopia, while fostering harmonious interrelations among nations in the Horn of Africa and beyond. We are presently in search of a motivated and seasoned individual to join our team as an Operations Coordinator on a voluntary basis. This role presents an exceptional opportunity to collaborate
with a dynamic team committed to effecting substantive change in Ethiopian society by advocating for viable policy alternatives.

Job Summary:

The Education Program Coordinator role at NeFRaD is pivotal in driving the organization's mission forward, fostering a profound and nuanced comprehension of critical policy matters among key stakeholders, cultivating a populace well-versed in the intricate landscapes and pivotal trajectories within the Ethiopian policy sphere, training and empowerment of prospective leaders in policy reform endeavors. This position entails leading educational programs targeted at policymakers, influential stakeholders, interest groups, and the broader public. As a volunteer position, the coordinator will spearhead initiatives within the Education Unit, focusing on strategic program development, content creation, thematic training sessions, standardized educational campaigns, evaluation of initiatives, and
collaborative endeavors with both domestic and international partners.

Responsible For
1. Program Development and Implementation:
  • - Coordinate the Education Unit to conceptualize, design, and execute educational programs aligned with the organization's mission and objectives.
  • - Develop comprehensive program outlines, timelines, and budgets for each initiative, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and available resources.
  • - Oversee the implementation of program activities, including scheduling events, coordinating logistics, and managing participant engagement.
2. Stakeholder Engagement:
  • - Cultivate relationships with policymakers, influential stakeholders, community leaders, educators, and other relevant entities to garner support and participation in educational initiatives.
  • - Collaborate with partners, including governmental, private, and non-profit organizations, to expand the reach and impact of educational programs through collaborative efforts and resource sharing.
3. Content Development and Material Production:
  • - Work closely with content creation teams to develop educational materials, resources, and curricula tailored to diverse audiences, including policymakers, community leaders, interest groups, and the general public.
  • - Ensure the quality, relevance, and accessibility of educational materials, incorporating feedback from stakeholders and subject matter experts as needed.
4. Training and Capacity Building:
  • - Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and seminars aimed at building the capacity of participants to engage effectively in policy dialogue, advocacy, and reform efforts.
  • - Provide guidance and support to program participants, including mentorship opportunities, skill-building exercises, and networking opportunities.
5. Evaluation and Continuous Improvement:
  • - Establish evaluation frameworks and mechanisms to assess the effectiveness, impact, and outcomes of educational programs.
  • - Collect and analyze feedback from participants, stakeholders, and partners to identify areas for improvement and inform future programmatic decisions.
6. Administration and Coordination:
  • - Coordinate internal and external communication related to educational programs, including outreach efforts, promotional activities, and reporting requirements.
  • - Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting on program activities, expenditures, and outcomes.
7. Team Collaboration and Leadership:
  • - Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the Education Unit, including content creators, instructional designers, platform administrators, and evaluators, to ensure the successful execution of educational initiatives.
  • - Provide leadership, guidance, and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Educational Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree (preference for a master's degree) in education, social sciences, or journalism.
  2. Professional experience of at least 2 years in public policy, preferably public policy education and/or advocacy.
  3. Proficiency in Amharic and advanced English language skills. (Additional local lang is a plus)
  4. Strong understanding of Ethiopia's social and political landscapes, with knowledge of public policy development and implementation contexts.
  5. Conviction in the efficacy of strategic, evidence-based, citizens-backed, and collaborative public policy reform processes.
  6. Strong pedagogic skills, including in curriculum and educational materials development and educational programs coordination.
  7. Willingness to commit at least 10 hours per week.
  8. Recruitment based on a rolling basis with the start date being as soon as possible.
